<p>An electric hammer drill has a rotating workspindle 11 carrying a chuck 40 for tool-holding purposes and has an impact mechanism 18 which is selectively engaged and disengaged by a changeover lever 23. In a first "impact drilling" position (1,Fig 2) the impact mechanism 18 is activated and, in a second "rotary drilling" position (2,Fig 2), exclusively for rotary drilling, the impact mechanism is deactivated. To achieve tool-free spindle arresting during operation of the chuck 40 for tool-changing purposes, the changeover lever 23 has a third "spindle arresting" position (3,Fig 2), in which at least one housing-fixed locking element 30 coupled to the changeover lever 23 engages positively into a locking element receiver 33 which is non-rotatably connected to the workspindle 11.</p> |
