Procedure and device for validating theatre tickets. The procedure for detecting the validity of tickets for public entertainments, is based on providing the ticket with some optical security elements, like the printing of phosphorescent pigments, a bar code printed with NON-TIR inks and camouflaged with a patch of TIR ink of the same or a similar colour, as well some marks made with these inks. The validator device, located at entrances to the premises, has detectors incorporated for analysing the phosphorescent response and the TIR/NON-TIR bar codes, sending the data obtained from this analysis to a central computer that determines the validity of the ticket. All this to prevent ticket forgery and for validating tickets quickly and simply. <IMAGE>
