A conversion kit for an exiting machine tool drive converts the machine tool drive from an air activated system to a hydraulically actuated system. The existing machine tool drive includes an air activated clutch and brake which are mechanically interlocked to simultaneously move the brake between an applied condition and a release condition and the clutch between a disengaged condition and an engaged condition. The conversion kit replaces the air activated clutch and brake with a hydraulically activated clutch and an independent hydraulically actuated brake and separates the activation of these devices. The separation of the activation of these device permits the designing of la specified amount of overlap into the assemblies.
