A number of cells (12) can be moved one behind the other along a conveyor path (16-19) in a horizontal transfer section to a transfer device (30). There is a feed aperture in the transfer device. The postal despatches (14) may be transferred from the feed aperture in a transfer direction directed towards an introduction aperture (13) of the conveyor cells (12) one behind the other in their arbitrary sequence. The transfer direction of the feed device extends horizontally and the main plane of the postal despatches is directed vertically.
