Identity card with easy to use, card shaped information carrier with memory

The identity card includes an electronically readable memory for storing a user's personal data digitally. The data includes data concerning physical characteristics of the user such as a passport photograph. The information carrier can be removed from the input unit of an easy to use housing. The housing has reading equipemt for reading the personal data stored in memory of the carrier. The housing has a representation mechanism for representing the read data. A sheet, in a folded or unfolded state, is attached to the information carrier.
