PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set optimal criterion parameters which are close to visual checking by interpreting the acceptability of a stored interior image based on updated criterion conditions and, if accepted as normal, interpreting the acceptability of the image by setting the updated criterion conditions as reference criterion conditions. SOLUTION: An image signal from an image pick-up device 1 is inputted by image input process and pattern collation is performed by pattern interpretation process using a pattern interpretation means 22. If the pattern is interpreted as normal, a 'normal' signal is output, and if it is interpreted as defective, such a defective image is parked by image parking process and a 'defect' signal is output. The parked image is subjected to repeated pattern interpretation process using updated interpretation parameters while updating the interpretation parameters. Thus interpretation conditions which coincide with visual check results are determined. New interpretation conditions which are determined are set to a pattern interpretation means and used for further checks. Consequently, it is possible to set optimal criterion conditions and thereby perform checking close to a visual check. |
