PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the noise at the time of ordinary image forming low, to prolong the endurance time and to enhance the cleaning effect of a carrying belt at the time of jamming recovery. SOLUTION: Toner images on photoreceptor drums 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d are transferred to transfer material 6 carried by a carrying belt 8. Then, the surface of the belt 8 is cleaned by a fur brush 108 so as to carry the transfer material 6 without soiling it in the case of forming the image again. In such a case, relative speed between the circulating speed of the surface of the belt 8 and the revolving speed of the brush 108 coming in contact with the surface of the belt 8 is switched to at least two stages so that it may be differenT between at the time of jamming recovery and at the time of ordinary image forming. |
