PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyphenylene sulfide resin compsn. which has improved mechanical strength, rigidity, crystallization properties, and fluidity at the time of molding by incorporating a specified alumina particle into a polyphenylene sulfide resin. SOLUTION: This polyphenylene sulfide resin compsn. comprises: 100 pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide resin; and 0.01 to 10 pts.wt. alumina particle, having a BET specific surface area of not less than 140m<2> /g, incorporated into the polyphenylene sulfide. The polyphenylene sulfide resin may be crosslinked by heating the polyphenylene sulfide resin in a heated vessel at a predetermined temp. until a desired melt viscosity is obtd. The heating temp. is 170 to 280 deg.C, and the heating time is 0.5 to 100hr. The control of both the factors can provide a target viscosity level. The alumina particle used is pref.γalumina.
