FIELD: agriculture, in particular, animal catching device used for animal activities research works. SUBSTANCE: animal trap has casing with two chambers 1 and 2 spaced one from another in horizontal plane and separated by vertical pivotal plate 3, whose hinge is arranged in casing top panel, and horizontal spring-loaded pivotal plate 5 whose hinge is arranged on casing bottom panel. Shield 6 positioned on plate 5 is extending along axis of ray emitted from waveguide 15 to photodiode 5. Force applied to plates 3 and 5 is differentiated depending on weight of caught animal. EFFECT: increased efficiency, improved versatility and compactness of trap. 3 dwgn
