The windscreen wiper assembly comprises a driving head (18,20) fixed on an end portion (12) of the motor drive shaft (10) of the unit driving the windscreen wiper. The end (12) of the windscreen wiper motor drive shaft includes a threaded extension (16) linked to the shaft by a conical tapered section (14). The end of the windscreen wiper (52) has a hole (36) and is retained on the threaded portion of the shaft between two specially shaped washers (40,42). The lower washer (40) has a convex surface (30), and the upper washer has a concave surface (44) facing the wiper end. Each curved surface has a series of parallel grooves matching corresponding ridges and grooves on the wiper end. A nut (66) and final washer (62) complete the assembly.
