PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device which is capable of preventing a failure to discharge an ink droplet from occurring or stabilizing the discharge direction of the ink droplet as an image recording device using a deformable member for ink discharge. SOLUTION: The rate of deformation of a deflective member 4 by drive elements 3 is set in such a manner that the rate of deformation at which the deflective member 4 becomes deformed to a shape for discharging a supplied ink 2 is higher than the rate of deformation at which the deflective member 4 becomes deformed to a shape for receiving the supply of the ink 2 from an ink reservoir 1. Consequently, the deflective member 4 is energized with sufficient energy to discharge an ink droplet 6. If an electric current of the negative direction is charged to the drive elements 3, the right/left drive elements 3 become close to each other to make the deflective member 4 deflected and thereby, the positive supply of the ink 2 to the deflective member 4 is achieved. In addition, if the electric current of the positive direction is charged to the drive elements 3 consecutively, the drive elements 3 are moved in the direction in which the elements 3 are moved horizontally from each other thus to stretch the deflective member 4. |
