PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type recording head which is characteristic of the separation of the interior of the recording head into two layers through a movable member while its interchangeability is maintained and a method a standardize an ink jet recording head designed in such a manner that the difference between the characteristics of this ink jet recording head and a conventional recording head. SOLUTION: When fitting a conventional recording head 210C to a new type recording device 200N, the recording head 210C is driven based on parameters prescribed for the recording head 210C in such a way that all operating steps are dealt with exclusively by the recording device 200N. When fitting a new type recording head 210W to a conventional recording device 200C, the new type recording head 210N is driven within the capability range of the recording device 200C. In addition, an identification means for identifying the type of a mounted recording head is provided on both recording devices 200N, 200C.
