PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a lithographic printing plate by a silver salt diffusion transfer method with a comparatively small consumption of an aqueous alkaline solution. SOLUTION: The image forming element to be used has a photosensitive layer containing at least one kind of silver halide emulsion and an image receiving layer containing physical development nuclei and relative in water permeability to this photosensitive layer on a support and this element is imagewise exposed and it has an aqueous alkaline solution added in the presence of at least one kind of developing agent contained in the solution and/or in the element and in the presence of a silver halide solvent to form a silver image in the image receiving layer. According to circumstances, the step in which a neutralizing solution is used for the element is added, and the lithographic printing plate is obtained by feeding the aqueous alkaline solution only to the surface of the element by a specified method. |
