PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vulcanizable flame retardant rubber composition capable of being formed into a vulcanized rubber molded product without containing a halogen and having a strength sufficient to be used in a practical use and an excellent flame resistance. SOLUTION: This vulcanizable flame retardant rubber comprises 100 pts.wt. copolymer rubber (A) of ethylene, anα-olefin and a nonconjugated polyene, 2-30 pts.wt. ammonium polyphosphate (B), 1-20 pts.wt. melamine (C) and 1-10 pts.wt. pentaerythritol (D). Moreover, the rubber (A) is usually obtained by using a 3-20Cα-olefin as theαolefin, regulating a molar ratio of ethylene/α- olefin to (55/45) to (95/5) and setting an intrinsic viscosity measured in decalin at 135 deg.C to 0.8-4.0dl/g.
