METAL OXIDE SURFACE-TREATED WITH POLYSILOXANE AND RUBBER COMPOSITION USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a blended reinforcing property of a vulcanizable rubber composition blended with a metal oxide such as silica, and also improve a modulus and an abrasion resistance of the composition. SOLUTION: This metal oxide or a rubber composition containing the same is obtained by surface-treating 100 pts.wt. metal oxide with 0.1-30 pt.wt. polysiloxane having an alkoxysilyl (I) or an acyloxysilyl (II) group expressed by the formula:≡Si-OR<1> (I) or≡Si-OCOR<2> (II) (R<1> is a 1-18C substituted or non-substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group, or an organic group containing an ether bond; R<2> is H or a 1-18C hydrocarbon group) and having 200-300,000 number averaged molecular weight, and also with 0.005-30wt.% titanium catalyst based on the weight of the polysiloxane as necessary.
