PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curved mold for a glass plate, capable of wholly maintaining the heat capacitor of the mold at a low level to shorten a curving molding work, easy in the maintenance of the mold, improved in durability and capable of shaping the glass plate into a curved surface excellent in smoothness. SOLUTION: This curved mold 1 for a glass plate comprises a mold part 3 comprising a ceramic material good in heat resistance and impact resistance and set in a heat capacity based on a prescribed thickness and having a cavity coincident with a curved surface to be shaped on the upper surface of the mold part 3, and a pedestal part 5 comprising a material comprising a higher heat capacitor than that of the mold part and supporting the mold part 3. The thickness of the mold part is set by calculating the heat capacitor of the curved mold on the basis of the received heat quantity ratio of the mold part to the pedestal part, calculating the volume of the mold part so that the sum of the heat capacitor (volume×specific gravity×specific heat) of the mold part and the heat capacitor (volume×specific gravity×specific heat) of the pedestal part coincides with the heat capacitor of the curved mold, and subsequently determining the thickness from the calculated volume.
