PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To subject the electrical connecting mechanisms of plural stages of the electrolytic cells of a high-pressure type hydrogen and oxygen generator to each other to prevention of the elution of their components into pure water. SOLUTION: The electrode plates 3 of the adjacent electrolytic cells 2 of the electrolytic cells 2 having gaseous oxygen generating chambers and gaseous hydrogen generating chambers which are connected in plural stages in the pure water of a pure water tank 1 and are partitioned by electrolytic membranes between both positive and negative electrodes are connected to each other by pipe members 7 internally isolated from the pure water. Conducting members 8 connected at one end to the electrode plates 3 of the one-side electrolytic cells 2 and connected at the other end to the electrode plates 3 of the other-side electrolytic cells 2 are inserted into these pipe members 7.
