PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing anα-olefin block copolymer good in physical properties. SOLUTION: This method for producing anα-olefin block copolymer comprises polymerizing anα-olefin in the presence of an organic aluminum compound, a transition metal catalyst component comprising a magnesium dihalide, a phthalate diester and a tetravalent titanium compound having at least one halogen, and an alkoxyalkysilane in an amount of 5-90 moles per mole of the titanium contained in the transition metal catalyst component, adding an alkoxylalkylsilane in an amount of 0.5-50 moles per mole of the titanium contained in the transition metal catalyst component to the polymerization product, and subsequently copolymerizing ethylene with theα-olefin.
