PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and effective method and device for combining continuous data related to toner amount remaining in a cartridge in course of the operation of a machine. SOLUTION: The cartridge 30 having an encoder wheel 31 encoding the characteristic information of an EP(electrophotographic) supply cartridge for an electrophotographic machine includes a sump carrying the initial amount of toner. A shaft is attached to be rotated in the sump and a paddle or a stirring device is attached on the shaft so as to get in, pass through and get out of the toner carrier by the sump in the case of rotating the shaft. The single encoder wheel is attached to the shaft on the outside of the sump and arranged to cooperate with a code wheel reader by nearly agreeing with or fitting to the code wheel reader in the case of attaching the cartridge at an appropriate spot in the electrophotographic machine.
