PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a branched cyclodextrin which is bound with a specific substituent throughβ-bonds to hydroxyl groups in the cyclodextrin and provide an effective method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This production of a branched cyclodextrin is to act Nacetylhexoseaminidase to a solution containing a branched cyclodextrin bound with any ones of N-actylglucosaminyl groups, glucosaminyl groups, N- acetylgaractosaminyl groups or garactosaminyl groups bound throughβ-bonds to hydroxyl groups in the dextrin, its salt, cyclodextrin and N-acetylglucosamine or Nacetylgalactosamine and, if needed, to deacetylate the reaction product.
