<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the unit requirement of desulfurizing agent and the producing quantity of slag by charging the desulfurizing agent composed of Al and MgO on the bottom part of a vessel and molten iron on the desulfurizing agent, putting Mg in the desulfurzing agent in reaction with S in the molten iron and producing MgS. SOLUTION: The desulfurizing agent briquette 3 containing Al and MgO is charged into a molten iron ladle 2 covering the whole body of the bottom part. Iron scrap 4 is charged on the desulfurizing agent so as to cover the whole surface. Successively, the molten iron 6 is received in the molten iron ladle 2 through a tilting through 5. Melting of the scrap 4 is progressed with the level rising of the molten iron 6. Simultaneously, the melting of Al contained in the desulfurizing agent briquette 3 progresses, and the molten iron 6 is brought into contact with the desulfurizing agent layer 3. Then, Mg is generated from the desulfurizing agent layer 3 and coming in reaction with S in the molten iron to produce MgS. Further, when the molten iron 6 penetrates the desulfurizing agent layer 3, spinel (MgO.Al2 O3 ) is floated up in the molten iron 6. The MgS and the spinel are floated up to form a piling layer 7 on the molten iron surface. This point of time is made to be completion of the desulfurization.</p> |
