PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a briquette containing silicon-containing residue, as an additive for metallurgical purpose. SOLUTION: A silicon-containing residue which accumulates particularly during synthesis of organosilane by the reaction of metallic silicon with particularly methyl chloride, is processed into briquette. This briquette is an additive for regulating the quality of cast iron produced in a cupola, for the purpose of avoiding expensive regeneration for recovery of valuable component or avoiding overall discard of the silico-containing residue. In addition to the silicon-containing residue, the briquette contains, by weight, 1-10% ball fiber, 5-40% hydraulic cement, and 0-20% additional additive influencing on the quality of cast iron. The briquette, containing cement and ball fiber, has sufficient mechanical and thermal stability with respect to the operation of a blast furnace. The yield of the small-size silicon put into the cast iron is about 85% and reaches a value in the same range as lumps of ferrosilicon.
|
