PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain density conversion, suitable for a plurality of originals by setting optionally a density conversion characteristic with respect to a read original and selecting a density distribution range among setting values which are registered in advance. SOLUTION: Density conversion means 401, 402, 403 conduct density conversion to image data, received form an image input section based on a density conversion curve set respectively. Furthermore, density range detection means 405, 406, 407 detect whether or not the image data received from the image input section has a set density range and provide an output of corresponding signals a1, a2, a3. A priority order discrimination means 408 decides the priority of the signals a1, a2, a3 from the priority range detection means and gives the decided priority to a selector 404. The selector 404 selects one out of the three input signals and provides an output of the selected signal. Thus, the density conversion system, depending on the density distribution of image data is selected. |
