PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound image localization device which can localize a sound image at a fixed point through simple arithmetic processing regardless of the turn of the headphones. SOLUTION: Head part transmission characteristics from forward obliquely left below (Ch1), front obliquely right below (Ch2), backward obliquely right below (Ch3), backward obliquely left below (Ch4), forward obliquely left above (Ch5), forward obliquely right above (Ch6), backward obliquely right above (Ch7), and backward obliquely left above (Ch8) are supplied to FIR filters of Ch1 to Ch8, and the direction of a virtual sound image position viewed from the headphones 3 is found from an azimuth sensor provided at the peak part of the headphones 3 and a virtual sound image position set with a joy stick; and the gain corresponding to the direction is set in the FIR filters of the said Ch1 to Ch8 to localize the sound image. At the same time, a distance feeling is given by properly setting the output tap of a delay line provided in front of the FIR filters. |
