PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly rotationally drive an ultrasonic motor with high torque at a very slow speed, by generating a friction by coming in touch with a rectangular plate for transmitting vibrating of a standing-wave to a rotating plate which can rotate with a large radius. SOLUTION: A rotating shaft 4 is connected to a rotating plate 1 through a bearing 2 inserted into the central part of the plate 1. The projections 9 of a corrugated plate 5 making flexural vibrations due to a piezoelectric material 6 stuck to the rear surface are pressed against, wherever practicable, the outer periphery of the rotating plate 1 by means of a pressure means, so that the movement of the front ends of the projections 9 can be transmitted to the plate 1 through friction. Therefore, the horizontal drive generated on the contacting surface of the plate 1 becomes rotation around the rotating shaft 4 and, since the point of contact is relatively separated from the shaft 4 in the radial direction, large torque is obtained and the rotating speed of the shaft 4 becomes very slow. |
