PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator incorporated with a large crystal being inexpensive and optically good quarity as a polarizer and an analyzer by arrang ing a specified polarizer, a Faraday rotator and an analyzer in this order. SOLUTION: A Faraday rotator 3 is stuck between a polarizer 1 and an analyzer 2 and the polarizer 1, the analyzer 2 and the Faraday rotator 3 are inserted into a cylindrical magnet 4. The polarizer 1 and the analyzer 2 are fixed in the state that the mutual polarizing surfaces are different by 45 deg.. The Faraday rotator 3 rotates incident light by 45 deg. in the same direction regardless of the traveling direction of light. Aβ-BaB2 O4 (BBO) crystal making the polarizer 1 and the analyzer 2 is grown to the same diameter as the film thickness of a bismuth-garnet by a drawing-up method (CZ method). By sticking the bismuth garnet film as the Faraday rotator 3 to the BBO wafer and cutting it by a prescribed size, the optical isolator is efficiently manufactured.
