摘要 PURPOSE:To enable recovery of discharge to be performed in a short time by a simple structure by a method wherein an action component for driving a cap and an atmospheric release valve abut against a rail at a certain time interval by being interlocked with transfer of a carriage to a suction recovery area. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 2 is moved left and is set to a position wherein a suction recovery device becomes capable of being driven. Then, when a dowel 22d provided to a tip of a rail 22 is drawn back with a cam 28b, the rail 22a is elastically deformed to be drawn back, and an atmospheric release valve 23 retreats. Thereby, a vent hole of a cap 17 is opened, and a space part 17b of the cap 17 is interconnected to the open air. Suction of ink from a discharge port is stopped, and air flows into from the vent hole 17a by negative pressure in a cylinder to be sucked into the cylinder 27 together with the ink in the space part 17b. Therefore, no bleeding of ink occurs in the cap 17, and the ink stuck to a discharge surface is removed. By more rotation of a pump cam 28, pulling back of the rail 22a is released, the rail 22a is returned to an original form by elasticity of the rail 22a, and the vent hole 17a is closed again with the atmospheric release valve 23.
