PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect at high speed by separating a lighted part and a non-lighted part from a density data of each pixel of a light-and-shade image obtained by photographing a body to be inspected, selecting and extracting only the lighted part, executing image compression and inspecting defects. SOLUTION: A display element 1 to be inspected is placed on an inspection stage 2. An aligning mark of the display element 1 is detected thereby to correctly align the display element 1 and stage 2. Image data from an inspection camera 3 are transferred and stored in an image memory 5 of a computer 4. Only necessary data among the stored image data are extracted in accordance with a program stored inside the computer 4, and subjected to a compression process. Then, a defect-processing program is applied. For instance, image data of an inspection point are compared with image data of the periphery. If a density level of the inspection point is extremely small, the point is judged as a non- lighted point. On the other hand, if the density level is extremely large, the point is judged as a bright point. When points continue in a column direction, a row direction, it is judged as a bright line, a non-lighted line. |
