PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device in which the number of switches for switching a plurality of discharge lamps from one to another is reduced so that a lighting circuit is simplified and so that costs can be reduced. SOLUTION: In a discharge lamp lighting device by which a plurality of discharge lamps 10, 11 connected across the first and second secondary coils 8, 9 of a high frequency inverter producing high frequency outputs for starting the discharge lamps are turned on from one to the other, the filament 10A (or 11A) of one of the plurality of discharge lamps 10, 11 is connected to the first and second secondary coils 8, 9, and a changeover switch 16 is placed on the other filament 10B (or 11B) side to change the discharge lamp 10 or 11 that is to be turned on. |
