DISK TYPE MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk type magnetic recording medium in which electromagnetic transduction characteristics, especially high-density recording characteristics are significantly improved and excellent characteristics can be shown in any size of the medium. SOLUTION: This medium is produced by successively forming a base layer which is substantially nonmagnetic and a magnetic layer having dispersion of a ferromagnetic fine powder or a ferromagnetic hexagonal ferrite fine powder in a binder on a nonmagnetic base body. The nonmagnetic base body is composed of a polyethylene naphthalate having <=10nm center face average surface roughness SRa. The thickness dμm of the nonmagnetic base body and the outer diameter Dmm of the recording region satisfy the relation of 1.00<=D/d<=2.00.
