PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor maintaining high sensitivity, not deteriorating high electrification ability and low residual potential characteristics and capable of giving a satisfactory image without lowering image density or causing surface stain even when the photoreceptor is repeatedly used. SOLUTION: At least, a middle layer and a photosensitive layer are disposed on an electrically conductive substrate to obtain the objective electrophotographic photoreceptor. The middle layer contains a metallic tetra-2,3- pyrazinoporphyrazine compd. preferably selected from among chlorogallium tetra-2,3pyrazinoporphyrazine, copper tetra-2,3-pyrazinoporphyrazine, zinc tetra-2,3-pyrazinoporphyrazine and magnesium tetra-2,3pyrazinoporphyrazine. For example, chlorogallium tetra-2,3pyrazinoporphyrazine crystals having principal diffraction peaks at 9.2 deg., 11.1 deg., 14.3 deg., 17.9 deg. and 26.1 deg. Bragg angles (2θ±0.2 deg.) in the X-ray diffraction spectrum are used.
