The forward end of the lengthwise machine frame hinges via a vertical axis on the tractor, while the rear end is supported by one or more land wheels, the latter being steered by a thrust rod, bell-crank lever, track rod and steering arms coupled to the wheel stub shafts. On the track-rod halves (18,18') is a joint (25) moved sideways by a supporting lever (27). The arm (22) of the bell-crank lever (17) coupled to the track rod forms a linear guide (23) working with a slide (24) on the rod near the joint. As the steering angle increases, movement of the slide on the guide automatically increases the effective length of the bell-crank arm, giving a progressive steering effect by the land wheels.
