PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image-processing unit in which density conversion with high accuracy is conducted by setting a conversion range of a density conversion means and smoothly interpolating the borders. SOLUTION: The processing unit is provided with a density conversion section 102, a density distribution measurement section 105, and a range setting section 106 and the range setting section 106 receives a range setting of the density conversion range, according to read data, based on the distribution analysis in the density distribution measurement section 105. Furthermore, the continuity of discontinuous characteristics of adjacent areas is made and a density characteristic of areas, not set, is interpolated based on the density conversion range and the density conversion characteristic entered by an operation section 108, so as to smoothly connect the borders, thereby obtaining a stable density conversion characteristic. |
