PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search for a route required by a user without burdening the user with a load by forming and displaying fresh road data based on road data and run data of a vehicle and searching for the route in accordance with the present position of the vehicle and an instruction of the user on the basis of the road data and fresh road data. SOLUTION: The present position of a vehicle is detected by a position- detecting device 102. Run data of the vehicle from the present position are stored in an internal memory device 107. An operation device 105 forms fresh road data not stored in a map memory device 103 on the basis of road data and run data, and additionally displays the data at a display device 106. At the same time, the fresh road data are stored in an external memory device 108. The fresh road data are displayed in a different pattern so as to be distinguished from the general road data. A route is searched for in accordance with the present position of the vehicle and an instruction from a user based on the road data and fresh road data. The result is displayed at the display device 106 and stored in the memory device 108.
