PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a lighting circuit part that was the first to operate from the influence of noises produced at the start of another lighting circuit part that starts to operate afterwards. SOLUTION: In a discharge lamp lighting device comprising lighting circuit parts 2 consisting of a plurality of inverter circuit parts 7 with different load capacities for lighting discharge lamps 1 and control means 3 for the lighting circuit parts 2, the lighting circuit parts 2 are controlled by timers 3a (3a1) serving as control means 3 provided on the power side of the lighting circuit control parts 2, to shift the start of starting action by a predetermined time among the plurality of lighting circuit parts 2 so that the discharge lamps 1 are sequentially started from the one connected to the lighting circuit part 2 with the greater load capacity. |
