PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus which can discriminate between DVD-R (Digital Video Disk Recordable) and a CD-R(Compact Disk Recordable) to prevent breakdown of the dye layer of CD-R. SOLUTION: This apparatus is constituted to execute the recording and reproducing operations by loading a DVD-R. In this case, before stating the recording or reproducing operation, whether the disk loaded is the DVD-R or CD-R is detected by a color sensor 24 and a disk discriminator 25. When the disk is a DVD-R, the recording or reproducing operation is executed depending on the operation mode with an LD driver 23, a pickup 20 and a servo system 21, etc. When the disk is CD-R, CD-R is exhausted to the outside of apparatus or warning display is executed by a loading system and warning system 26. |
