PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a seal lip into contact with a movable shaft in a proper condition, and thereby obtain excellent sealing performance by providing a guide regulating the position of the seal lip for a protective ring in an oil seal member where a protective ring is engaged with the inner circumference of an engagement part the outer circumference of which is engaged with the inner circumference of a housing. SOLUTION: In the sealing device 1 equipped with an oil seal member 8 sealing a gap between a housing 20 and a movable shaft 30, the oil seal member 8 is formed out of am engagement part 3 to be engaged with the inner circumference of the housing 20, a seal lip 4 hermetically brought into contact with the outer circumference of the movable shaft 30, a spring 5 energizing the seal lip 4 to the direction of the movable shaft 30, a bamper 6 stabilizing the movement of the seal lip 4, and of a bellows 7. In this case, a protective ring 9 protecting the seal lip 4 is fixedly engaged with the inner circumference of the engagement part 3. And the protective ring 9 is provided-with a cylinder part 10 to be engaged with the inner circumference of the engagement part 3, and with a guide 11 guiding the seal lip 4 in such a way as to be properly brought into contact with the movable shaft 30. |
