PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the capacity of a memory used for a data table for density adjustment by using a plurality of 1st density characteristics adjustment data, so as to generate 2nd density characteristic adjustment data corresponding to the set output image density. SOLUTION: A table-generating section 132 generates a table for density characteristic adjustment, corresponding to the setting of the density based on tables 130a-130c of light, center and dark reference data for adjusting density characteristic, stored in advance in a correction data table section 130, and the generated table is outputted to a density characteristic adjustment table section 133. A density characteristic adjustment value calculation section 134 calculates a density characteristic adjustment value, corresponding to an input image signal with linear interpolation of two density adjustment values close to each other, based on the input image signal from a scanner section. Then a density characteristic adjustment section 135 corrects the input image signal and provides an output to a printer section. The capacity of the memory of the data table for density adjustment is saved, and the density adjustment is changed by providing a degree of freedom. |
