PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact electrifying device capable of selecting the material of an electrifying member from a wide range and completely restraining scaly electrification irregularity. SOLUTION: In this contact electrifying device 2; a photoreceptor drum 1 (body to be electrified) is electrified by applying DC voltage on the electrifying member 21 arranged in contact with the drum 1 from a power source PW, and the surface resistanceρs of the electrification contributing surface (fs) of the member 21 is >0Ω/square and <=1×10<5>Ω/square, and a potential difference between the surface potential V0 of the drum 1 before electrification by the member 21 and applied DC voltage VC is >=550V and <=750V.
