<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reproducing error rate of a rotary magnetic head device by reducing the contact resistance between a tape-like magnetic recording medium and the lower end section of the outer peripheral surface of a rotary drum by tapering the lower end section of the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum. SOLUTION: In the rotary magnetic head device, the lower end section of the outer peripheral surface of a rotary drum 1 is tapered so that the diameter of the drum 1 becomes smaller toward a magnetic head 3. The tapered surface is inclined toward the head 3 from the outer peripheral surface of the drum 1. When the magnetic head 3 comes into contact with a recording tape 4 for, for example, reading signals from the tape 4 or writing signals on the tape 4, an air film is formed between the drum 1 and tape 4 and the lower end section of the outer peripheral surface of the drum l does not come into contact with the tape 4.</p> |
