The method involves detecting an angle of divergence of a control unit comprising a transmitter, especially when moving this unit by hand. At least two emitters of the transmitter are displaced at a predetermined angle with respect to each other, whereby each emitter emits a wave or radiation with predetermined intensity along the plane of the angle detection, which can be clearly associated with the respective emitter. The intensity distribution of at least one of the emitters is angle-dependent in the plane, whereby a receiver associates the signals of the at least two emitters, in each angle position of the transmitter with the respective emitter, and determines their amplitude. The ratio of two of these signal amplitudes is formed in each angle position, and the angle of divergence of the control unit is calculated or determined empirically in response to this ratio.
