A cleaning device (7) on the outside of the burner casing pipe (2) at the forward end (1a) of the burner (1) operates in high-intensity gas pulses. The cleaner has a tubular outer surface (8) passed at radial spacing round the burner end to form an uniform annular space (9), the space in turn linked to a gas pulser (11) arranged outside the combustion space (3). The gas pulse outlet (12,13) consists of an uniform annular nozzle orifice for axial ejection via nozzles directed onto the outside front end of the burner mouth. The outer wall of the burner is supported on the casing tube by centring ribs (10) acting as spacers and the conventional gas pulser is exchangeably flanged to the outside wall via a branch tube (18). The pulser comprises a container with gas pulse control. Preferably compressed air is used as cleaning gas.
