The insulating matting (5) for a domestic appliance, especially for acoustic and/or thermal insulation for a dish or clothes washing machine, is bonded to the body of the washing unit (2) through a single- or multi-layer intermediate carrier (6), which can be peeled or split from the housing (2) wall or from the insulation matting (5). Also claimed is an insulation matting (5) with a single- or multi-layer carrier material as a laid bitumen mat forming a removable or peeling wall covering with the mat. Pref. the intermediate carrier (6) is adhesive bonded to the appliance body (2) and/or with the insulation matting (5), and the adhesive bonding can itself act as the intermediate carrier, as a fusible adhesive or pref. a peelable adhesive. The intermediate carrier (6) is of paper and/or an applied plastics film, applied wholly or partially on the insulation matting (5) and/or the appliance housing (2) wall sections. USE/ADVANTAGE - The matting is for acoustic and/or thermal insulation of a domestic appliance, especially a dish or clothes washing machine. The insulation can be removed from the housing easily and rapidly, when the appliance is scraped for recycling.
