The valve drive has a poppet valve (12) actuated by a camshaft (34) for variable stroke movement. A drive transmission rocker has a contact face (80) for pressure transmission. The contact face is pivotable on the bearing axis of the camshaft. There is a first upper surface area (80.1) with a cylindrical curvature having the same axis as the cam shaft bearing. A second upper surface (80.2) does not have a cylindrical curvature and is connected to the first section. There can be a third surface (80.3) with a larger radius than that of the first.
