An apparatus and method for accepting a request of processing a transaction with a bank or an order for goods through use of speech, e.g., by telephone. There has been no apparatus by which a database of the contents of a request of processing by a client and the contents of the agreement can be accessed easily from an existing computer system. The apparatus of the invention has a voice signal quantizing means (11) which quantizes the voice signals of a first specific part in the conversation of the client at the time of request and converts the voice signals into digital voice data, a voice signal-to-character string converting means (12) which generates the character string data of the voice information contents of a second specific part in the conversation in accordance with the voice information of the second part and a memory means (13) which stores the digital voice data and the character string data separately in individual files or integrally in a file in such a way that the files concerning the request can be discriminated from the files concerning the other requests. Even if a request through use of voice is received, the database of the request contents and the agreements contents which can be accessed from an existing computer system and dealt with easily can be produced.
