The cage (1) around an axial cylindrical roller bearing is formed by a strip of steel (3) folded into a concentric polygonal form about the bearing's axis of rotation (4). The two ends of the cage are joined to form rolling surfaces (5) for the cylindrical roller (2) outwardly-directed radial surfaces. Adjacent cylindrical rollers are separated by opposing pairs of guidance tongues (6,10) directed towards the bearing core.
