Electromechanically operated disc-brake for motor vehicle

An electromechanically operated disc-brake has a brake saddle on one side of which is mounted an electric motor for an actuator that presses the brake pad against the disc. There is a release device (42) for the brake on the other side of the saddle and with it, a second brake pad (16) is lifted off the disc(18). The brake saddle is a floating type. The release device is also electromechanical, with a motor(58). It is irreversible. The two motors use independent power supplies.
