The fixing device is for a cross member (1) attached to the bodywork by screws in holes in a holding element at each end in the A-column region. This takes place in a plane parallel to the long side of the bodywork. The holding elements are made as separate holding attachments (5). These have borings (6) of substantially greater diameter than the fixing screws. There is a traverse (2) on each end of the cross member for fitting to the corresponding holding attachment, in which there are elongated holes (7) for screws connected to the holding attachment.
