The sleeper bolt is fitted with a slit sleeve (5) which is pressed against the sides of the hole through the sleeper by an upper conical spreader (6) and a middle double ended spreader (7). The bottom of the bolt is secured into the rail bed plate (3) by an elastic spreading grip (8) between the middle conical spreader and a lower conical spreader (9). To fit the bolt the sleeper is laid onto the bed using suitable support spacers (4). A hole is drilled into the bed using the sleeper hole as a guide. The bolt, fitted with the spreaders and sleeves, is inserted and secured by tightening a top nut.
