Transmission system for vehicle equipped with automatic gearbox

A transmission system (10) for a car has an interrupter (24) for electrical interruption of the transmission path between the engine (12) and a driven road wheel. There is a manual selector for a number of operating states in the transmission system including a neutral state. Corresponding to the shifting of the selector into neutral, there is a second interrupter for mechanical interruption of the transmission path. There is also an automatic gearbox (18) with a number of operating positions. The second interrupter has hydraulic clutches to connect and interrupt the transmission path and a manual switching valve to switch the gearbox according to the manual selector position using a coupling.
